She’s the magnolias. He’s the matches.
Finding inspiration from the cornfields all the way down to the bayou, South African country duo Oh Mercy’s blend of Americana, bluegrass, blues and alt-country has been breaking new ground in the South African music scene since 2012.
Characterised by sweet harmonies, dirty riffs and a stage chemistry hotter than hell and half of Georgia, these two consummate songwriters will reel you in with nuanced narrative, impassioned delivery and a healthy pinch of homegrown humour.
She’s the hallelujah. He’s the heartbreak.
Oh Mercy are Emma du Preez and Andy Lund.
Andy’s alt-folk and rock charisma alongside Emma’s sweeter, indie-folk charm proves to be the ultimate complimentary country pairing.
“An unexpected Country duo, Emma du Preez and Andy Lund, perform … with such charisma and charm… Du Preez’s girlish country allure and Lund’s cowboy look gave their performance a whimsical element which made it stand out as a crowd favourite.” – Aisha-Bibi van der Ross, Artslink, reviewing Oh Mercy’s performance at the Cape Town Folk ‘n Acoustic Music Festival
The duo released their first EP, Nowhere City, produced in South Africa by SAMA award-winner Theo Crous and mastered in the U.S.A by Grammy award-winner Gavin Lurssen, in October 2015.
Past performances include:
Rocking The Daisies
TEDx Cape Town
The Cape Town Folk ‘n Acoustic Music Festival
Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells Rockabilly Festival
The Flamjangled Tea Party
